Frankly, I think the biggest problem with identifying and bringing to justice the predators, rapists, abusers and all other kind of douches that use someone for sex, abuse, rape etc., is that most of the people like to believe they’re always the scary unknown person… In their minds it’s never a member of our family, a friend, an acquaintance, a partner, your spouse, that nice and friendly person we know, our friendly boss.. or heck any other kind of person we somehow (are supposed to) cherish and trust.

What do you think?

1. animalinmymind answered: this is absolutely true. and i can tell you from personal experience that the pressure to keep this peace is what keeps some survivors silent
2. a-mermaid-soul said: Exactly. Rapists/abusers, etc. are demonized in the press, so when a ‘regular person’ is accused the victim is seen to be nothing more than attention seeking. It’s very dangerous.
